S J Roberts Construction has confirmed that nobody was hurt during a huge blaze at the company's industrial building near Welshpool.

Managing director Mike Sambrook issued a statement on Thursday (March 7) following a blaze at the industrial unit in Lower Marton, on the Welsh-English border at Marton near Welshpool, to confirm that no one was hurt in the fire, and to thank the fire service for their efforts.

The fire began on the evening of Wednesday, March 6, eight fire crews from Shropshire and more from mid Wales rushing to the site to tackle the blaze, which they spent all night dealing with.

Mr Sambrook's statement confirmed that the fire is now out and that no one had been hurt during the incident - adding that the company remains operational today.

He said: “Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire and our thanks must go to all those in the Fire Service who tackled the blaze and a special thanks to the local community who turned out to offer help and assistance."

“Numerous appliances attended from Shropshire Fire and Rescue and Mid and West Wales Fire Rescue Service.”

County Times:

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service added that it took several hours to control the fire, with the assistance from fire fighters from as far away as Telford.

Mr Sambrook also explained that S J Roberts Construction is continuing to operate in spite of the incident and that there will be “no disruption to progress”. They also expect that the building will be handing the building back to them imminently.

He added: “As reported, a fire has occurred at the headquarters of the SJ Roberts group of companies.  The fire is now out, and we anticipate the Fire Service handing the building back to us later today (March 7).

“At that point we will have a clearer picture of the full extent of the damage however, we are continuing to operate, and all sites will be running as normal with no disruption to progress.”
