An amateur performing arts group in Meifod took to the stage for the first time in a number of years, raising over £1,000 in the process.

In February, Meifod Panto Group held a series of stage performances to a full house at Meifod Village Hall.

The production represented the first major performance the group had put together since before the Covid-19 Pandemic, which halted the group’s meetings in 2020 and triggered a lengthy hiatus, which came to an end in January 2024, as the group revealed that details of a new project would be revealed soon.

The group staged three performances of the pantomime ‘Mother Goose’, their first performance since their adaptation of ‘Cinderella’ in 2019.

The group were able to raise £1,000 in total over the course of three performances, donating £500 Meifod Village Hall for the use of the hall over the month of rehearsals.

Ysgol Meifod were also involved, running raffles at two of the shows, which managed to raise £400 in total.
