A man has been sentenced in court for carrying a lock knife around in public in a Powys town.
Ashley James McNinch was told that the offence was so serious that he was given a 26-week prison sentence but it was suspended for 12 months.
The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to carrying the bladed article after he was stopped by police near the A4078 in Talgarth on March 28 last year.
McNinch, of Henley Road, Ludlow, was ordered by Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court to wear an electronic tag for eight weeks as part of the requirements of his suspended sentence.
He must stay at home from 9pm to 6am every night until April 15.
He was also ordered at his sentencing hearing on Monday, February 19, to pay a total of £239 to the court after the magistrates’ decided that he must pay a £154 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
