Parents are being urged to get their children vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) amid rising cases across the country.

Arwystli Medical Practice, which has surgeries in Llanidloes and Caersws, has appealed to parents to contact the GP if their child needs a jab.

“It is essential that all children have had two doses of a measles containing vaccine (such as MMR),” a spokesperson for the practice said.

To check whether a child has been vaccinated, the immunisation details are available in the child’s Redbook or alternatively call 01874 442 510 between 11am and 4pm on Mondays to Fridays.

MMR is part of the NHS Routine Childhood Immunisation Programme—with one dose offered at one year of age, and another, second dose at three years and four months of age.

Parents whose infants missed out are urged to come forward now, as well as any person of any age who has not yet had a vaccine.
