Llanidloes Carnival has been a fixture in the town for decades; a highlight of the calendar and a chance to celebrate the close-knit community.

The search is now on to find a girl aged 14 to 18 who will be this year’s Llanidloes Carnival queen to lead the lorry procession on Saturday, July 13, wearing a beautiful dress from Wedding Belles which she can choose and keep.

"You will be making the key contribution to a really happy day for the town," a spokesperson for Llanidloes Carnival said. "You will never forget being carnival queen!

Potential queens in school years 10 to 13 or equivalent in college will need to write a short letter telling the carnival committee a little bit about themselves and why they would like to be Llanidloes Carnival queen. The letter will then need to be delivered to Woosnam and Davies newsagents by Friday, February 23.

Llanidloes Carnival organisers are also hosting a coffee morning at the Hanging Garden on Saturday, February 17, from 10am to noon.

"We’d love people to call by for a coffee and a chat," the carnival spokesperson added.

"We are hoping to encourage children who wish to be on this year’s queen’s float to attend with their parents, and we are also hoping to welcome any individuals who feel they can help the committee in any way.

"People do not have to join the committee – we would just love to have a few more people to help us do a range of little jobs before or during carnival weekend."
