Rumours abound today that legendary BBC science fiction series Doctor Who is filming at a cafe not far from the Powys border.

Our colleagues at the County Times' sister paper the Hereford Times are on-scene at the OK Diner in Leominster, about 15 miles from the Powys border at Presteigne, where camera crews and trailers have pulled up.

Three trailers seemingly housing video equipment are on the scene of the filming, with signs sporting the Bad Wolf branding - the Cardiff-based studio that is responsible for Doctor Who.

A crew member told our reporter that they were filming an episode of 'The Bridge', it is unclear whether they were referring to a Swedish/Danish detective show that concluded in 2018 that was shown on the BBC, the Channel 4 reality programme that goes by the same name, or an entirely different project.

OTHER NEWS:

It is still believed, however, that they are filming an episode of Doctor Who.

The atmosphere around the OK Diner is full of excitement, with a number of fans having gathered to see if they can catch a glimpse of the Doctor himself.

The diner is tightly guarded, with a cordon being well maintained by security staff and the windows blocked out.

Filming is not yet thought to have begun, but preparations are well under way, and the usual 'OK Diner' sign on the restaurant has temporarily been replaced by another that reads '10c'.

A crew was seen filming what seemed to be an episode of the much-beloved programme set in the 1950s in Penarth in recent days, with new Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, dressed in a period-appropriate costume.

It is believed that the 1950s-themed OK Diner will feature in the same episode after a casting call was previously issued.
