A main road in Powys was closed in both directions after "heavy flooding" caused by Storm Henk.

The A483, the main road between Welshpool and Newtown closed in both directions due to heavy flooding on the road.

The North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency said the road had been closed in both directions between Berriew and Welshpool "until further notice". The road reopened at about 2.30pm.

The road was also closed between Pool Quay and Arddleen, the agency said.

Drivers had been reporting issues all along the A483, with people travelling along the road at Arddleen claiming vehicles were "turning around because of floodwater on the road near the Guilsfield turning".

There were also issues further up the road in in Llanymynech where there was flooding which was "passable with care" according to Traffic Wales.
