The Met Office has issues a yellow weather warning in the early hours of Christmas Eve.

The weather warning has been issued for most of Powys for "persistent and at times heavy rain" from 10pm Saturday (December 23) until 6pm on Christmas Eve.

The warning has been issued for al most all of the county for the whole of Christmas Eve other than the south of Brecon. 

The Met Office has warned the public that the "flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible" and that "some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible".

They have also warned that there could be disruption for people trying to travel on Christmas Eve as bus and train services will "probably be affected with journey times taking longer".

Drivers have also been warned that "spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer".

They are advising when driving to "if you can, choose main roads, where you are less likely to be exposed to fallen branches and debris and flooding" and "be sure to give yourself more time to react when approaching a hazard.

They are also advising to be aware of more vulnerable road users such as cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians and to give them "more room than usual" as "they are more likely to be blown around by side winds – always keep a safe distance".

The Met office is also advising residents at risk of flooding to "check the flood advice in your area to know when and where flooding will happen.""
