Plans have been submitted for a new 175-space car park by leading Powys drinks company Radnor Hills.

The nationally popular drinks manufacturers has put the plans forward to Powys County Council for a new car and lorry park to serve its plant in Knighton.

The plans would see the company build a new car and lorry park with 155 car parking spaces and 20 articulated lorry spaces, and would be around half a hectare in size.

The proposed space for the car park would be the land beside the plant, as the company expands operations at the facility, including after a successful application to build more warehousing.

“This will give rise to the need to relocate the existing car and lorry immediately adjacent to the new warehousing and adjoining agricultural land. There is no capacity within the existing Radnor Hills Mineral Water site."

The company added in the statement that the site cannot be moved or adjusted as the company relies on the “springs and boreholes of the underlying aquifer” and that it has “grown organically on this site since its inception 30 years ago”.

The plans will now be considered by Powys County Council’s planning authority.
