'Legendary' former Newtown police officer Graham Jennings has been recognised at a reception in Downing Street.

Graham and his police officer daughter Charlotte were joined by Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams at the Home Office Local Community Safety Champions’ reception in Number 10 on Tuesday, December 5.

"Graham is a legendary figure in Newtown following decades of service as a police officer and a PCSO," Craig said.

"Earlier this year he was nominated for the Lifetime Achievement Award in the National PCSO Awards and was recently awarded Honorary Freedom of Newtown.

"Policing clearly runs in the family, with his daughter Charlotte now a Dyfed-Powys Police Sergeant based at Newtown Police Station.

"Both of them are clearly fine examples of policing champions, and we are very lucky to have them in Montgomeryshire."

Graham was made an honorary freeman of Newtown earlier this year which he said would "treasure for the rest of my life".

The former PCSO retired this summer after his decades-long service in the Dyfed-Powys and South Wales police force areas. The honour recognises not only Graham's extraordinary career but also his lasting impact on the Newtown community.
