Several train journeys through Mid Wales will be replaced with bus services in December due to engineering work being carried out.

Buses will replace trains all day along the Cambrian Line between Newtown and Shrewsbury on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10.

A similar schedule is lined up for the following week on Sunday, December 17, and Monday, December 18, seeing buses replace trains between Newtown and Shrewsbury for the duration of both days.

Transport for Wales said the line will close which engineering work takes place between Welshpool and Newtown.

Early morning and late night trains between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth will also be replaced by buses, from Monday, December 11, to Friday, December 15.

A rail replacement service will run from 11pm to 6am during the five-day period while overnight engineering works are carried out.

Passengers travelling across Mid Wales are being warned they should allow extra time and plan ahead.
