TRIBUTES have been paid following the sad passing of lifelong Llanidloes Town Football Club supporter Colin Breeze last week.

Mr Breeze, aged 87, was a lifelong supporter of the JD Cymru North club and held several roles over the decades as well as playing a “major” part in the club attaining a license to join the second tier and upgrading the club's ground at KVM Park.

Like many Daffs fans, Mr Breeze belonged to a family of club supporters who dedicated much of their lives to the well-being of their hometown club.

Mr Breeze also supported his beloved club home and away over the decades as the club went from founding members of the League of Wales to the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League and back up to JD Cymru North.

"Colin supported the Daffs from a very early age as all of his family were huge Daffs fans,” a spokesman for Llanidloes Town Football Club said.

"His cousin, John Breeze is our club president. Colin was a committee member for many years and has travelled home and away for matches most of his adult life until his recent ill health."

Mr Breeze was known throughout the town and further afield for his knowledge of his hometown club while also dedicating time to support another Llanidloes sporting institution.

Over the years Mr Breeze also supported Llanidloes Cricket Club through thick and thin as the Recreation Ground climb's fortunes ebbed and flowed in the Shropshire League.

The spokesman added: "His main point of topic was always about the Daffs, he has always helped the club in whatever way he could, nothing was too much to ask of him. He was also a very keen supporter of Llanidloes Cricket Club. He will be missed by all."

The club added: “Colin was a massive supporter of the Daffs, was part of the fixture and fittings at the ground and always tried to make the games as he progressed in years.  Every conversion with Colin would have something about the club in it.

“We pass on our deepest sympathy to all family and friends of Colin. Rest easy, Colin, and keep looking down at the avenue watching the Daffs."

A minute’s silence was held in memory of Mr Breeze before the Llanidloes Town Reserves match against Caersws Reserves at the KVM Park on Saturday, November 18.
