The assistant manager at Newtown McDonald’s took on a job with a difference as she became the face of a collaboration between the fast food chain and footwear brand Crocs.
Fion Capener, from Newtown, was chosen to feature as a model for McDonald’s collaboration with Crocs, flying out to Chicago for a photoshoot.
The opportunity arose after Ms Capener was featured in the company’s monthly news show The Wrap, featuring employees from the outlets.
She then entered a competition to be part of the campaign for the upcoming collaboration. A few weeks after entering, she was told she had won.
The models for the products were chosen from various McDonald’s outlets across the world, with other winners being chosen from Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
She said: “I have worked for McDonald’s for nearly three years and studied creative arts at university before my time with McDonald’s started.
“I work closely with McDonald’s as a presenter to film a crew show called The Wrap which is a monthly operations, competitions and news show that keeps crew informed on what’s happening in the world of McDonald’s.
“Through this I had the opportunity to fly to Chicago with McDonald’s earlier this year to feature as a model for the latest McDonald’s x Crocs collaboration.

“They held a competition in which we had to give the reasons in which we would like to go and I chose to create a rap song which featured my Mum and dog. A few weeks later they called to say that I had won the competition, and I would be flying to Chicago within the next two weeks.
“I was incredibly excited as I’d always wanted to go to America. The shoot was over two days and I worked closely with the McDonald’s and crocs team who were awesome and made me feel so comfortable.
“I’ve done lots of acting in my life but never been a model for anything so I was a little nervous. They also had crew from Spain, Australia, New Zealand and America and all of us actively work within McDonald’s restaurants.
“McDonald’s looked after me throughout the whole trip and made sure that I had a great time out in America.”
