The team at from Machynlleth Fire Station have won an award in recognition of their efforts and service over the past year.
On November 10, members of Machynlleth Fire and Rescue Station attended the 2023 More Than Just Fire Awards ceremony, recognising extraordinary contributions made by colleagues, partners and members of the public to Mid and West Wales Fire Service.
The 2023 ceremony was held at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells and was presented by renowned international rugby referee Nigel Owens MBE.
The team from Machynlleth walked away as the winners of the Northern Division Station of the Year award.

On the ceremony, a spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: “This year’s spectacular More Than Just Fires Awards ceremony is brought to a close by Chief Fire Officer, Roger Thomas, who thanks everyone for their hard work and dedication.
“This evening’s event has given us the opportunity to celebrate the great individuals and teams who are doing a whole host of amazing things to help safeguard our communities.”

The award comes after another recognition for Machynlleth station, as the team also received a donation of £1,000 during their station drill on October 31.
The donation was presented by David Llewelyn Lewis, supported by Leslie Pugh, in loving memory of David’s father Euros Wyn Lewis.
A spokesperson from Machynlleth Fire and Rescue Station said: “We are incredibly appreciative and wish to extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Lewis family and friends.”
The Machynlleth team added that the money be re-invested into the station, which will include training, competency maintenance, well-being of crew members and kit maintenance.
