The family of a Newtown baby who died aged just 15 months old have raised thousands for charity.

The family of Ronnie Jones raised almost £4,000 for Hope House Children's Hospices by holding a fun day in Caersws.

Ronnie was born with complex needs and received care at Hope House until he died in November 2021. 

His parents Alice and Lewis and brother and sister Dougie and Mina wanted to keep raising money to support the hospice which provided Ronnie and the family with care and support.

“Despite some bad weather, it was really well attended and everyone had a great time,” said Ronnie’s mum Alice.

“We lost Ronnie at 15 months and Hope House was there for us throughout that. They’ve been there for us from the beginning so we just wanted to do something to give back.

“Added to our running total, we’ve raised nearly £20,000 over the last two years which is a massive amount and we’re really pleased with it. We’d like to thank fundraiser Bekki from Hope House for helping with anything we needed and all of our sponsors for this year’s event.”

It was the second event organised by the family from Aberhafesp, near Newtown, after they raised more than £15,000 in Ronnie’s memory last year.

The second Party on Ronnie Street took place at Seasons Café in Caersws and featured donkey rides, stalls, food trucks, a disco, ice cream, live music, bars, fun runs, games and lots more. 

The event was sponsored by a number of local companies including Hughes Architects, Fastenal, Williams Plant Hire, Metro Rod, Evabuild and Hilltop Honey.

Hope House fundraiser, Bekki Fardoe, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Alice and Lewis and the family for raising such a fantastic amount by holding a second Party on Ronnie Street.

“It is a special way for the family to celebrate Ronnie’s life and have a lasting tribute in his memory too.

“The money raised will make sure we can be here for more families across Mid and North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire that need our support.”
