Fire crews were rushed to the power border after reports of sparks flying from a telegraph pole.
A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service crew was scrambled from Bishops Castle to attend what was reported as a “telegraph pole fire” at Bishops Moat.
Crews from the service called out to the scene with engineering crews from Western Power early yesterday afternoon (November 13) after a call was made reporting that the telegraph pole was emitting sparks from the cable.

A spokesperson for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 13:38 on Monday, November 13, 2023, Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as in Bishops Castle.
“One fire appliance was mobilised from Bishops Castle.”
The spokesperson added that crews found “one cable sparking” and that they decided against using any equipment to deal with the incident left with western power.
According to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service that crews left the scene an hour after arriving.
