A new set of charging points for electric vehicles are set to be installed in Builth Wells.

Planning permission was granted by Powys County Council for the service station in Builth Wells to build a new set of charging points for electric vehicles.

The new charging points will be at the Texaco site and will sit behind the current station behind Greggs.

In the application form put forward to Powys County Council it said they are intending on building “a charging zone, erection of EV chargers, erection of canopy, three jet wash bays, sub-station enclosure, LV panel, meter cabinet and associated forecourt works.”

The new site will see parking bays set up for six vehicles to be able to charge up alongside a new substation to power the new charging points.

The new plans will also see three new jetwash bays being built alongside the charging bays.

In a decision notice Powys County Council has said that work on the site will only take place between 8am and 6pm from Monday to Friday and 8pm and 1pm on Saturdays and that the work will have to be completed on the site within the next five years.
