A main Powys road has been immediately closed after a the collapse of a side wall left a hole through the side of the road.
The collapse happened on the A470 between Carno and Dolfach causing a dangerous hole to appear along the edge of the road - right down to a nearby waterway.

The Welsh Government's Trunk road agency said the the road had to be closed "immediately" after the damage appeared "immediately (north) west of Talerddig" and that diversions for motorists were being put in place.
Pictures released by the agency show a large cavity on the side of the road where the wall collapsed with the surrounding tarmac also beginning to crack.

As a safety measure the A470 will be closed immediately (north) west of Talerddig, between Carno and Dolfach until further notice.

According to traffic information in the area, traffic is moving at a slow pace as officials put in place an alternative route for motorists.
It is unclear at this time when the road would be able to be reopen as according to the Welsh Government it is currently considered to be unavailable "until further notice".
