It's not too late to lace up your trainers and take part in Newtown's first Santa Run for more than a decade.

Mid and North Powys Mind has announced that a new version of the popular festive 5km fun run or walk will be back in town on Sunday, December 3.

The 'Mental Elf' charity run promises to be a day filled with festive magic, community spirit and unwavering support for a worthy cause.

Mid and North Powys Mind, a charity dedicated to supporting mental health in the community, hopes to raise £2,500 to achieve better wellbeing for people in Mid Wales.

"I was so low and was planning to end my life but Mid and North Powys Mind were there for me," said a grateful local mum who has benefitted from the charity's vital mental health services.

"Their actions, care and support saved my life and now my children have their mother.

"They have raised me up, kept supporting me and have built me up to be the woman I was before my mental health dip.

"I'm forever grateful and we will be dressing up, fundraising and giving back".

People can secure their spot by registering online through the Eventbrite website at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mental-elf-newtown-tickets-629952192967. It costs £10 for adults to take part and £5 for children under 16.

Everyone will get a medal for taking part in the fun run which starts at 11am on Sunday, December 3, at Dolerw Park, as well as trophies for the category winners which include best dressed adult, best dressed child and best dressed pet. There will also be a Santa's Grotto and free children's crafts at Hafan yr Afon.
