Police based in Bishop's Castle responded to a report that an "unexploded device" was found in a nearby village.
Officers went to Clungunford at around 3.50pm on Tuesday (October 24) to find that it was a light green "torpedo-shaped" glass bottle with a cork top.
A spokesperson for the West Mercia Police said: "Safer Neighbourhood Officers from Bishop's Castle were called out to what was reported as an unexploded device in Clungunford at around 15:50 today.
"Pleased to report it was a torpedo shaped glass bottle. Call with good intent."
