A man has been given a second chance by a court for chucking a brick at a pub window in Newtown.
Danny Vaughan, aged 32, of Brynmore Avenue, Newtown, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge after admitting causing criminal damage by smashing a window at The Buck Inn, High Street at around 10.55pm on August 18.
He was also given a six-month conditional discharge for failing to surrender to bail on October 3.
Robert Hanratty, mitigating, told Welshpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (October 24) that Vaughan had been on "pretty hard times" in the several months leading up to the incident.
"It was a pointless crime because he wasn’t in the pub but he accepts had a brick in his hand and threw it and broke the window,” he said.
Vaughan was ordered to pay £250 compensation to The Buck Inn, £85 court costs, and a £26 victim surcharge.
Chair Stephen Pembroke said the magistrates' bench were pleased that Vaughan had not been in trouble with the court since 2010.
"We want you to go away from here today and not cause any trouble whatsoever," Mr Pembroke said.
