WELCOME to another edition of Bygones as we invite our beloved readers to join us on a whistle stop tour of 1974.
The year was marked by the Three-Day Week, two general elections, a state of emergency in Northern Ireland, extensive Provisional Irish Republican Army bombing of the British mainland, several large company collapses and major local government reorganisation.
On November 24, 1974, the fossils of an early human ancestor are discovered in north eastern Ethiopia. Soon nicknamed Lucy, the remains showed that human species were walking upright over three millions years ago.
Meanwhile in Powys life continued as always and the County Times has put together five from the archive.
