An Indian restaurant that prides on its “modern twist” presentation of fine Asian cuisine has taken the title of best newcomer in the Newtown area at the prestigious National Curry Awards (NCA).

Red Mango, which has only been open for two years, says the award is a "proud moment for Mid Wales".

This year, the fourth awards ceremony will take place on Monday (October 16) at the House of Lords, the Palace of Westminster, in London.

Erman Sasa, assistant manager at Red Mango, said he is dedicating the award to every customer and staff member who has supported the business.

"It’s a great achievement. We’re very proud. We’ve worked really hard since we opened,” he said.

"It’s a proud moment for the community."

Red Mango fan and curry connoisseur Phil, from Newtown, said the restaurant in Pool Road is a deserving winner.

“It’s a no brainer,” he said. "It’s excellent.

"I’ve never had a bad curry and the presentation is superb. They’ve absolutely made Newtown proud and long may it continue.”

The National Curry Awards was launched in 2019 to highlight the creative and talented chefs within the industry. The winners of the awards represent the best that can be achieved through dedication to catering delectable cuisine and to providing first class customer service.
