Drivers in and around Mid Wales will have a few road closures to deal with if they are driving through Powys during the next fortnight.

These will mainly be for essential maintenance works including signage, gully cleaning and resurfacing to ensure the upkeep of A roads.

If you are set to be travelling along these areas, it's best to take note of different diversions in place.

A483 south of Newtown

On weekdays from Monday, October 2, to Friday, October 13, there is a road closure scheduled for an eight-mile section of the A483 south from the Newtown bypass to Hafod Farm near the Llaethddu junction which includes Dolfor.

The full road closure will be carried out from 8am to 5pm on Mondays to Fridays for safety reasons due to the narrow nature and poor alignment of the road and the need for daylight to carry out the work.

There will not be any overnight closures.

Northbound traffic will be diverted at Crossgates via the A44 to Rhayader, A470 to Moat Lane junction by Caersws, A489 onto Newtown bypass to Dolfor Road (Laura Ashley) roundabout and vice versa for southbound traffic.

Residential traffic directly affected by the closure will be accommodated, as will the emergency services, public service buses and school buses.

A44 Bwlch Nant yr Arian

Over the border in Ceredigion, essential repairs to the A44 between Bwlch Nant yr Arian and just west of the Red Kite Café will be carried out.

The works will take place from Monday, October 2, to Friday, October 13 using Stop/Go signs with convoy traffic management.

There will, however, be a full overnight road closure between 7pm and 6am from Wednesday (October 4) to Saturday (October 7).

The alternative route for westbound traffic, leave Bwlch Nant yr Arian heading east to join the A4120 at Ponterwyd, through Devils Bridge to Southgate roundabout in Aberystwyth.

Then head towards Heol Y Bont to Morrisons roundabout and join A44 at Llanbadarn Fawr, following A44 to Bwlch Nant yr Arian. For eastbound traffic it will be vice versa.

A44 Kington Bypass

Near the Powys border, Balfour Beatty will be carrying out work overnight works along the A44 Kington bypass from 8pm to 6am from Monday (October 2) to Friday (October 6).

The road closure will be between the floodgates and the B4355 roundabout.

The works will include roundel laying, signing and lighting.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B4362 from Walton to the roundabout south of Presteigne then along the B4355 to Kington.
