Whilst I appreciate that Rodney’s Pillar is a listed structure and quite iconic, any total rebuild is surely going to be in effect a replica.
Modern building techniques (particularly in the foundations) will inevitably be used so it ceases to be historic.
Surely we can be more innovative than to just copy what’s there.
As a suggestion why not a monument with references to Admiral Rodney and the current monument in its design but also celebrating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
