A hairdresser is celebrating 10 years since opening the doors of her first salon in Newtown and is going strong ever since.

Kate’s Hair Studio opened in Nantoer on September 4, 2013 by mum-of-two Kate Cleaver before moving to Garth Owen five years later thanks to the success of the business.

The 38-year-old businesswoman said: “The salon continues to grow even stronger and I’m ever so grateful for you all for standing by us and being so loyal,” Kate said.

“It’s lovely to have such lovely clients; previous and new.”

After staying open for ten years, weathering Covid lockdowns and the cost-of-living crisis, Kate says she’s looking forward to the next decade at her salon with her “absolute best” team of hair stylists.

“When I took the leap to open up my own little salon, with my children only being two and three I didn’t know if I was making the right decision but I’m so proud of myself taking that leap,” she said.

“These last 10 years have definitely had some ups and downs along the way, and I could have given up on a couple of occasions, but I didn’t want my dream to end that easily. I’ve pushed through when there’s been knockbacks.

“I’ve met absolutely amazing people along the way [who] have become friends.  My family and friends have supported me through all of this and wouldn’t be where I am now without them.

“The girls at the salon work their absolute best and appreciate all their hard work and their honesty when I need them for advice. You’ve really helped me more than you’ll ever know; not just work colleagues but amazing friends for sure.

“It’s the first time this year after opening the salon that I’ve actually had three whole weeks off work to spend some quality time with my family.

“The salon continues to grow even stronger and I’m ever so grateful for you all for standing by us and being so loyal. It’s lovely to have such lovely clients; previous and new.
