Two men who seriously injured a man while keeping him falsely imprisoned in a Llanidloes flat have been told by a judge that they face a lengthy prison sentence.

Stephen Dixon, 51, and Wayne Butler, 36, both of Valentine Court, Llanidloes, pleaded guilty to causing and inflicting Matthew Williams grievous bodily harm (GBH) and falsely imprisoning him inside the town centre flat on July 17.

Judge Rhys Rowlands told the pair, who appeared in court via video link from HMP Berwyn, that they face a long sentence in custody for the "extremely serious matter".

The pair, who were both wearing grey jumpers, were remanded in custody after being told that their sentencing hearing will be held at Mold Crown Court on November 30.

A further hearing, meanwhile, will be held next week to consider the facts in relation to Dixon's plea.

County Times:

Judge Rowlands said: “As regards to sentencing, you’ll both be aware it will be a lengthy custodial sentence, I’m afraid.

“As you’ve pleaded guilty it is very important and it attracts credit and will reduce the length of that sentence.”

Dyfed-Powys Police officers, who made a public appeal for more information, were in the area just off Great Oak Street on Monday, July 17, and Tuesday, July 18, while they investigated the serious incident.

A spokesperson for the force said at the time: "Dyfed-Powys Police would like to thank the local community for their patience and apologise for any disruption caused."
