Serial award-winning Llanidloes businesswoman Trudy Davies has been shortlisted for yet another accolade.

Trudy Davies, of Woosnam and Davies News, is one of three finalists for a trophy that awards retailers from across the UK who have demonstrated "exceptional commitment" to community retailing over the last year, supporting their colleagues, customers and fellow retailers."

The accolade from the Association of Convenience Stores was created in honour Raj Aggarwal who passed away in April 2020 during the pandemic.

The entries were judged by Sunita Aggarwal, Raj's wife and owner of Spar Wigston; Jonathan James, managing director of James Convenience Retail, and Avtar Sidhu, owner of Budgens Kenilworth.

The three finalists have been invited to attend ACS' Heart of the Community conference in October, where they will discuss their community activity over the last year.

The winner will then be voted on by retailers and suppliers in attendance and announced at an exclusive reception on the House of Commons Terrace.

Trudy said: "I'm a bit speechless to be honest with you.

"There's been so much this year for our business, myself and my community to celebrate this year.

"I love to see my hometown being highlighted; it may be a small community, but it has the biggest heart when it comes to anything that we do for the community.

"It's a team effort with myself, my staff, my friends, my suppliers and most of all my customers."
