Newtown is looking tidier after some members of the Mothers Union spent time litter picking along the river path, around the park, Back Lane and the Gravel car park areas of the town on Tuesday, August 15.
Gaynor Astley, from Newtown Mothers Union, said: "Everyone enjoyed the experience, and the glorious sunshine was a bonus. We think this will become an annual event!
"We ended the afternoon by meeting up with more members at 23 Social for coffee, cake and chat."
Mothers Union is a Christian charity that has been supporting families since 1876 and is a worldwide organisation in 84 countries with more than four million members.
Gaynor added: "We aim to demonstrate our Christian faith in action through small but vital projects fundraising to support a variety of projects locally, nationally and internationally."
The Newtown branch meets on the third Tuesday of the month. Anyone who would like to join the group can give secretary Gaynor Astley a ring on 07759 226948 or send an email gaynorastley@hotmail.com for more information.
