OTHER NEWS:

Similar in style to Terry Pratchett and comparable to When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill, the author who hails from Dolgellau uses a comedic voice to share the tales of unusual characters facing realistic situations with a twist of fantastical realism.

County Times:

Her publisher said: “Tyranny is in the air in the city of Finer Bay, but Professor Wendowleen Cripcot would like to be left alone. The memories of the last 100 years are quite enough to be getting on with, if only these young upstarts from the sinister government body, The Finery, would stop trying to control her every move.

“With the eyes of a dictator upon her, there are not many places to hide. Wendowleen may be old and cantankerous, but she is also daring, brave and wise. She has never been one to back down from a fight (just ask her pet wolf), and a distant, disturbing memory won’t stop clawing at the back of her mind. As this totalitarian government starts to tighten its procedures, Wendowleen may be the only woman who can put its leader in his place.

“Insurrection is brewing underground. Will she join the dissident partisans in their attempts to overthrow The Finery? Inspired by genuine history, with a sprinkling of fantastical realism, Grosvenor’s debut demonstrates the power of older women who show the world just how capable they really are, whether the world is paying attention or not.”
