Before I write more I feel I must apologise to Newtown Gardening Club, who do a wonderful job with the gardens outside Iceland and other places around town.
They were not mentioned in my article referring to who tended flower beds etc around town.
So I hope you will forgive us.
Now for another excellent enterprise here in Newtown – the Knit and Natter Ladies, who display their creations on the postbox at the lower end of the High Street, to celebrate various events and the like.
OTHER NEWS:
- Closure fears for one of Powys' last remaining Royal British Legion branches
- Council could take action over unauthorised works at historic hall near Welshpool
- Infamous "Red Dress Manor" set to be turned into home after years left empty
As the seat/bench opposite the said postbox is a resting place for us, either on our morning litter picking walk or just for a rest during a walk, we can also see the clock and are able to know the time.
While resting there we are amazed to see the great interest these creations attract.
Folks stop to admire the clock and are able to know the time.
Not being both of the same gender – Chips being female – I cannot say what the ladies natter about.
However, their knitting and crocheting are very excellent and something to be proud about.
Finally, if any of you have oddments of wool I am sure the group would be very pleased to have them.
So sort out those unused socks, scarves and jumpers and help a worthy group of knitting and nattering ladies to create their masterpieces.
