As the project nears completion, work has begun on another facility at Machynlleth’s new petrol station.

Ascona has begun construction work on car wash facilities for the new service station, which is scheduled to open on August 10.

The installation of ducting and groundwork has been set in motion for jetwash and carwash facilities, as well as the installation of the car wash separator.

In an update posted to social media, the company reported that the canopy for the station has been completed and erected, putting most of the main structure in place and resembling a recognisable service station.

The construction project is now in week 25 of development, having begun in February 2023, when the old Texaco petrol station on Doll Street was demolished to make way for the new facility.

OTHER NEWS:

The rebuild is part of a £3 million transformative redevelopment programme which Ascona claims will create 12 new jobs in the area, restoring Machynlleth’s petrol services after going months without a local service station when the old site closed.

Earlier in July, Ascona announced that they had overseen the completion of screed application on the first floor, alongside internal walls and installation that has left much of the first floor and ground floor completed.

Site clearance is now reportedly underway, which Ascona says will make way for the final touch of smooth tarmac and road markings.
