Alice, who says she has from a very young age enjoyed the carnival procession, will join a long list of Llanidloes carnival queens who will be joining the parade at this summer’s event on Saturday, July 15.

OTHER NEWS:

The carnival committee are continuing their search to find as many past queens as possible for the celebrations which will include a special afternoon tea with cake and bubbly with an introduction to 2023 queen Alice.

Organisers, who are trying to find the names of every former carnival queen, say they have had several ladies get in touch and they will be joining the parade.

County Times:

“It would be a fantastic and incredible achievement to have all our former queens together and celebrated in the most appropriate year,” carnival organisers said. “Please join us in making this most magical event happen.”

A special pre-carnival event which will have a selection of carnival queens’ gowns on display has been arranged for Saturday, July 1, in the lead-up to the summer’s festivities. The coffee morning to celebrate the history of the carnival will include photos and film from the archives dating back to the 1930s which have been researched by local historian Nia Griffiths.

Last year’s event was dubbed "the biggest and best ever seen" in Llanidloes after hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the first carnival in three years.

Organisers said they were "delighted and thrilled to bits" to see so many floats and people walking in the parade.
