The official re-opening of a birthing centre at the hospital in Llanidloes following a £120,000 refurbishment will be one of the ways that the town will celebrate 75 years of the NHS.

The Llanidloes and District War Memorial Hospital is set to host a community party on Saturday, July 1, to mark the special milestone since the first universal health system was available to all, free at the point of delivery.

Midwife Rachel Mills said: “This event will be an opportunity to celebrate what a wonderful service the NHS is and to thank all the staff for their hard work.

“The Dylife birth centre will also be officially re-opening on this date following a refurbishment of the birthing room and bathrooms throughout. This will be an opportunity to showcase what a fantastic midwife-led service is provided within Llanidloes.

“We hope that the community will join us in celebrating this special milestone.”

The hospital is asking if any local businesses or groups to get in touch if they would like a stall at the event for a £15 donation. To book a stall, please send an email to Rachel at rachel.mills@wales.nhs.uk.
