A weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for Powys over the weekend.

The Met Office has put a yellow weather warning in force for the county on Saturday as the recent sunny weather is set to come to an end.

The warning has been issued from Saturday June 10 from 2pm up until 9pm.

In a statement the Met Office are warning that "whilst many places will be largely dry, thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail are likely to develop in some places on Saturday afternoon."

They are also warning that there is a "small chance" that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly and that there could be "damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds."

The Met Office are also advising drivers that "spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures" and that for rail users "where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and possibly even cancellations to rail services".

The Met Office are also warning that "there is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be temporarily lost."
