A person has been hit by a train on the main route from Powys to Aberystwyth.
In a statement released by National Rail this afternoon it was confirmed "A person has been hit by a train between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth.
"Whilst emergency services attend the incident, trains will be cancelled or revised."
The condition of the person who was hit is unclear at this time but Emergency Services are expected to be in attendance until at least 5.00pm.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 3pm this afternoon, Wednesday 07 June, to an incident in the Ynyslas Borth area of Ceredigion.
“We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, where the crew were also supported by two high acuity response unit paramedics and an operations manager.”
Anyone who is delayed by the incident are being advised to keep their ticket as they may be able to be compensated for their journey.
The route affected is reported to the Cambrian Line between Birmingham and Aberystwyth.
