The organisers of Mach Comedy Fest have advised people attending to “fill up on the way” after the closure of the town’s petrol station.

The organisers of the hugely popular festival had to give out the advice after the site of the old petrol station was levelled earlier this year to make way for a new 3,500 square site.

This now means the nearest fuel station are now miles away with the nearest 24-hour stations in Newtown and Aberystwyth, with daytime stations at Tal-y-bont, Mallwyd and Tywyn.

However, this has caused disruption for the annual festival who also had to give out advice about the limited banking facilities in the town adding: “We hope to take card payments on the box office & bar this year, but well worth bringing cash.

"There are cash points and a post office, but it's a busy weekend.”

The situation was met with annoyance with one local resident responding:“ No Fuel, No Banks, No Signal - Bring Fuel, cash and paper cups with string in between.”

The owners of the old Texaco site started work on the new petrol station in January and said that work should take around six months with a target reopening in July.

The new site will reportedly feature an increased number of fuel pumps boasting 8 with dedicated HGV lanes, pumps for gas oil and kerosene at the kerbside and space for up to 12 electric vehicle charging points.
