A police appeal has been launched after a person suffered non life-threatening injuries in a crash that closed a busy mid Wales road for almost 12 hours.

The collision involving a blue Volvo estate and a silver Ford Transit happened at about 3.30pm on Wednesday (April 26) on the A44 in Llanbadarn Fawr, near Aberystwyth.

A trapped person was rescued after firefighters had to cut the roof and dashboard of one of the vehicles.

The injured person was then assessed by an air ambulance crew before being taken to hospital with injuries which police say are “not believed to be life threatening”.

The road was closed and reopened at 3am on Thursday morning (April 27).
