A Welshpool based packaging supplier has teamed up with a sports events company to bring a series of running and cycling events to Powys.
Wipak UK announced that it will be working alongside Adrenaline Sporting Events to support events like the Welshpool 10k, Newtown 10k and the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon.
As part of the new deal, Wipak’s employees will have unlimited free spaces in all of Adrenaline Sporting Events’ challenges, as well as active encouragement from their employer to volunteer at events as well.
Clare Hanson, HR Manager at Wipak UK, said: “We are delighted to partner with Adrenaline Sporting Events to not only support an array of exciting events in our local community, but help improve wellbeing amongst our workforce and make competitive running and cycling more accessible.

“We are also encouraging staff to make a positive impact by getting involved as volunteer marshals, with volunteer hours acknowledged through our internal reward and recognition programme.”
The deal follows a highly successful 2022 for both companies, as Wipak UK collected the top accolade at the Powys Business of the Year Awards 2022.
The awards jury said: “Wipak has a strong leader, has invested in local people and put them at the heart of the company. They have established themselves as market leaders by continuing to invest in their manufacturing capability and in the development of new products.
“They are making a positive environmental contribution by taking decisive action and challenging traditional methods. We believe they will be an inspirational and worthy ambassador as a standard bearer for Powys.”
After the Welshpool 10k’s inaugural year in 2022, following several delays as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic, was deemed a success, organisers are hoping for a successful second outing for the sporting event.
The 2023 Welshpool 10k, organised by Adrenaline Sporting Events, is scheduled to be held on March 26, with almost a thousand entries expected to descend on the Powys town for the event.
