WELSHPOOL Town Football Club officials have confirmed the fundraising campaign will continue.

The club has received grant aid from the UK Government and Football Association of Wales Trust so far this year with the cash to be spent on creating three new pitches to replace those lost to the new school on Salop Road.

The Cymru Football Foundation has awarded the club another grant for the purchase of maintenance and playing equipment for the new pitches.

The grant will allow the club to purchase a sit-on-mower, a line marker, goals for teams of all ages and a storage unit.

Club spokesperson Eva Bresdorff said: "The club is most grateful to The Cymru Football Foundation and Sport Wales for their generous support of Welshpool Town FC and juniors and grassroots football in mid Wales."

OTHER NEWS:

Such equipment will enable the club to maintain the new pitches and to make them set for training and matches, when they become ready for use at the end of the 2022/23 season.

A successful grant from Sport Wales towards the sit-on mower means that the contribution asked of the club is just over £2,000.

County Times:

However, there will be future expenditure and the club needs to continue its fundraising and this is where we need the help and support of the wider community.

Eva said: "Although the junior section is already contributing via the subs paid by parents of the junior players, it is anticipated that the junior teams will continue their fundraising efforts, which saw them raise over £10,000 towards the development of the pitches.

"It is also hoped that the people of Welshpool will help by donating to the club.

"To show its appreciation the club will create a donors’ board which will name everyone who gives to the club irrespective of the amount."

For local businesses and companies there will be an opportunity to secure advertising boards when contributing either £250 or £500.

Eva added: "It is very much hoped that individuals and businesses from the Welshpool area will rally around the club and support this important community asset, which currently has twelve junior teams, as well as women, reserves and  first teams – in total over 290 players and 35 coaches and officials and which has the intention and ambition to expand its playing facilities and participation."
