OTHER NEWS:

The choir had been due to take part in a concert at Dinas Mawddwy, Gwynedd, on Saturday, but it was cancelled out of respect for the tragedy.

Councillor Elwyn Vaughan said: “It was a huge shock to hear such sad news.

“In this close-knit agricultural community, it’s news that is deeply felt, especially for such a highly respected family.

“The Evans are one of the region’s oldest family names and well known throughout the vicinity.

“Beyond the family name Dafydd is well known for being such a valued member of the community, especially from his work with the community council and participation in the choir.

“Of course we wish him well and hope for the best in the coming days, while the community will be offering its full support.”

A HSE spokesperson said: “We visited the farm on Saturday with Dyfed Powys Police, who are leading the investigation."

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a farm in the Aberhosan area of Machynlleth on Friday evening, 17 February 2023.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious. A 42-year old man is in hospital with serious injuries.

"The Health and Safety Executive and H.M. Coroner have been informed. Our thoughts are with the family who are receiving specialist support.”
