A dispersal sale at a farm which had been run by the same family for 46 years sold items for up to £28,200.

The sale which took place at a Bank Farm, near Welshpool on February 11 included genuine machinery, implements and tractors on the border dairy farm – which had been farmed by Richard and Helen Fairbanks for 46 years.

Leading regional auctioneers Halls reported a buoyant trade and a large crowd at for the auction. Top prices included £28,200 for a 2020 Kubota 4WD, £22,000 for a 2004 New Holland, £10,600 for a Mastek Slurry Mate reel and pipe, and  £7,700 for a 2015 Spread-a-bale.

Auctioneer James Evans, a director of Halls, maintained a family connection with the farm, as his father, Jim, sold it to the Fairbanks family in 1977.

Having recently sold the 200-acre farm for Mr and Mrs Fairbanks, Mr Evans said he was delighted to see such a large turnout and an excellent trade for the auction. He wished the couple a long and happy retirement.
