A 22-year-old from Machynlleth is planning to run up the three largest peaks in Wales in one day as part of a fundraiser for a charity supporting people with brain injuries.

On May 2, Isaac Gibson will be running up Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen-y-fan, in an effort to raise money for The Children’s Trust.

Isaac says his fundraiser was inspired by his sister Floss, who in 2019 was involved in a serious car accident that left her with a serious traumatic brain injury.

He credits The Children’s Trust, a charity based on Surrey who help children rehabilitate from brain injuries, with helping her in the road to recovery.

Isaac said: “It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while but was struggling to find a challenge that conveyed how big and important this cause is to me. It had to be something significant to show how close Floss is to me and how meaningful the Children’s Trust is.

OTHER NEWS:

“Floss was 17 when she had the accident and was lucky to get treatment with the Children’s Trust. They provide life changing rehab for thousands of people like her, on top of information, guidance and support for the families of children living with brain injuries.”

The charity provides information in an understandable language and hope that parents, teachers and families find it helpful on their on-going journey following a child's brain injury.

In addition to support and education, the charity focusses on providing a range of therapy and psychology services centred around the child or young person.

Isaac added: “The accident affected Floss’ life massively. She required around the clock care and while she continues to improve every day, it’s a slow process.

“To see someone have their life impacted in that way was very hard, but in the years since our bond has only grown stronger as she and the whole family have learned to tackle this challenge head on.

“Floss remains a capable, happy and active person, and a huge part of that is thanks to the Children’s Trust so any way I can give something back is worthwhile to me.”

Isaac has already beaten his initial fundraising goal of £1,000 and is hoping to climb even higher in the months leading up to the challenge.
