Montgomery and the surrounding area will be the star of an upcoming episode of escape to the country.

The episode will be airing in next week on January 24 at 3pm on BBC one. It will be focusing on a couple looking to move into the area who are looking to get into the self-catering industry.

The story will focus on “space for holiday lets or glamping is the priority for a couple today who are chasing a complete change of lifestyle in Wales”.

Host Steve Brown will be kick-starting the couple’s Powys property journey with a selection of countryside homes with business potential.

Some of the filming took place in Montgomery town centre at the much-loved Castle Kitchen.

The programme will see an interview with Montgomery Town Crier Sue Blower who has held the role for the last 16 years.

There will also be an appearance by the local Monty’s brewery – it will see the couple on the show chatting to Russ and Pam Honeyman, the owners of the Brewery.

They also take time to visit the Victorian reservoir at Lake Vyrnwy and admire how it blends in with the natural environment.
