THE weather proved the winner this weekend with most league fixtures wiped out.

Frozen pitches claimed much of Sunday's JD Cymru Premier and JD Cymru North programme while most of Saturday's fixtures were also cancelled.

Newtown's 2-0 win at home to Haverfordwest County was the only top flight survivor with goals from Nigel Aris and Rhys Hesden ensuring the Robins moved into the top six.

Llanidloes Town's 2-0 defeat at Gresford Athletic was one of only two surviving fixtures in JD Cymru North with goals from Chris Hibbert and Ellis Turner enough for the Wrexham side to claim the spoils.

The entire Ardal North East League programme was wiped out along with Brecon Corries' south east league clash at Croesyceiliog.

County Times:

The FAW Central Reserve League, Watson Financial Mid Wales League South and JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League programmes were also wiped out while only a handful of fixtures survived in the MMP Central Wales leagues and Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League.

Barmouth United booked their place in the third round of the MMP Central Wales League Cup with a 2-1 win at home to Abermule.

Greg Pryce fired the villagers into an interval lead before Llion Owen levelled and Robert Griffith snatched a late winner for the hosts.

Kerry maintained their MMP Central Wales League North title bid with a 4-1 win over Llanfyllin Town at Newtown Football Club's Latham Park.

Ethan Holloway and James Price struck in as many minutes midway through the first-half to give the Lambs the lead.

William Davies reduced the arrears early in the second-half but goals from Ben Hendleman and Mark Hughes ensured Kerry climbed to second in the table.

Radnor Valley climbed to within a point of the top of the southern league table with an emphatic 8-0 win at Aberaeron.

Charles Beaumont led the rout with a five goal haul while Elliot Morris, Geraint Lloyd and Callum Matthews completed the scoring.

The Goats were also in action on their way home when its players stepped up to help several stricken motorists whose cars had been stranded in the snow in the hills between Aberystwyth and Llangurig.

Penparcau Reserves stormed to an 8-0 win at home to Borth United in the only game to survive inthe Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League.

Lee Morgan led the scoring with a hat-trick while Gytis Pivnickas struck twice with Harley Lawton, Aled Parry-Evans and a Matthew Williams own goal completing the rout with the visitors ending the match with nine men following the dismissals of Clive Morgan and Shem Ap Kalani.
