Poppy Appeal collectors will be out distributing poppies in Llanidloes following the launch of the annual fundraiser for the armed forces community.

Llanidloes Women's Royal British Legion and Reverend Alison Gwalchmai gathered at The Red Lion Hotel to launch the town’s Poppy Appeal ahead of the national launch on Thursday, October 27.

People are encouraged to wear a poppy with pride as the nation prepares to focus on the Armed Forces and commemorating those who have died in world wars and other conflicts.

The Armed Forces charity said: “The Royal British Legion is working hard to support the most vulnerable in our society, be it older veterans that we care for, those who suffer from social isolation, or those who are simply overwhelmed by the challenges associated with the cost-of-living crisis.
