THE last ever Bettws Banger Racing will take place next weekend with organisers confident the final edition will prove a smash hit.

Over the past decade the event has become one of the most popular and unique in the mid Wales calendar while also raising more than £160,000 for charity and local organisations.

On Sunday, August 28 a top field of drivers and a capacity crowd is expected to descend on the Aberbechan Woods venue near Bettws Cedewain for one final time.

A spokesperson said: "We are expecting the biggest turnout ever with more trade stalls than ever before and we will have BBR Merch available to buy on the day for the first time as well as a rally car raffle."

"After 10 years of giving our all to the event we have all decided its time to step back," added the spokesperson. "Not many realise the amount of behind the scenes work it takes to organise this event. It takes months and after covid we didn't think we would go again.
