WORK will soon start on the extension of Llanidloes Town Football Club’s stand - a century after the original structure was erected.

During the 1920s the club stand was built by workers from the nearby foundry, many of who either played or supported the club.

Their labours continue to stand the test of time with the stand still standing proud at Victoria Avenue.

Now, thanks to a Football Association of Wales ground improvements grant, the club will extend the stand by building alongside it with new changing rooms and a class room to be added to their facilities.

Spokesman Rob Hughes said: “The clubhouse as we know it today was built by the fans. The new extension work will happen very shortly and will be situated to the left of the main clubhouse and will include male and female changing rooms, a medical room and an office area.”
