AN events business in Llanidloes is celebrating after winning a national award.

Malimacs Events was founded by Ffion Pugh, taking the names of daughter Mali and son Macsen, as inspiration.

Ffion said: “I had always dreamed of starting an events business. During the pandemic I was heavily pregnant with my daughter, Mali, and was being kept very busy by my son, Macsen.

“As we found ourselves in lockdown, on maternity leave and awaiting the arrival of our daughter, I needed to find a way to keep my busy three year old entertained.

“I saw this as an opportunity to embark on my dream and start the ultimate events business, so I invested in a commercial grade soft play set.

“A week later my daughter Mali was born and so too was Malimacs Events.

“I worked incredibly hard during the months to follow as well as juggling a newborn and my three year old while my husband went out to work.”

County Times: Malimacs has gone from strength to strength.

Ffion was blown away by the feedback from parents and the business mushroomed.

She said: “Once the restrictions lifted, word started to spread and the business really took off.

“From there i began to offer event decor such as photo backdrop walls, champagne and sweetie carts, balloon decor and things like that.

“It has now expanded further, we offer themed bell tent hire, indoor sleepover parties and most recently a stunning bespoke white bouncy castle which is very sought after for more formal events such as weddings and christenings.”

The latest addition to the business was a Wedding decor collection which proved so impressive it won its category at the Welsh Wedding Industry Awards.

She added: “Never in a million years did I think it would become as popular as it has and I’m excited for the future to see where the next chapter leads.

“It has created some brilliant opportunities to meet other local businesses and suppliers and for us to help and support one another wherever possible.

“I’m a big believer in supporting local and doing all i can to encourage and support others to ‘go for it’ too.”

Meanwhile Ffion reserved special thanks for those who supported her dream.

She said: “None of this would have been possible without the support from my husband, my mum and other family members who have helped and supported me along the way, especially to my parents in law and my Nan for their invaluable help with looking after the children while I’m zipping around the county turning visions in to a reality.”
