A £500 funding boost means a Llanidloes sports’ club will be able to buy equipment for young people.

Llanidloes Croquet Club members are “delighted” to have received the funding boost from Localgiving and Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The club will use the money to purchase smaller mallets, hoops balls and coaching so that younger people aged between eight and 18 are able to participate in playing the sport in Llanidloes.

David Mullan, Charman of Llanidloes Croquet Club, said: “We are delighted and grateful to receive this ‘Magic Little Grant’ and would like to thank those involved in awarding it to us.

“We will now be able to purchase some suitable equipment for younger players. This will enable us to provide opportunities for their greater enjoyment and success whilst playing and learning the game of croquet.

“Like all team and club games croquet can enhance opportunities to boost a range of personal and social skills for all involved, whilst at the same time enhancing an individual 's wellbeing."

Llanidloes Croquet Club will have the honour to host the Welsh Golf Croquet Championship final in September.
